Molasses and Honey
Hi, my name is Molasses. I am the dark brown one in the front. My twin sister is lying right behind me and her name is Honey because she is lighter in color like Honey. We enjoy lying in the sun and playing with the other goats. Sometimes we chase each other and play in the big pasture that is all ours!
Edwina and Ginger
Our favorite game is “King of the Mountain” and as you can see, I won this time! My name is Edwina and I’m standing on top of the big rocks we have to jump and play on. My twin sister is named Ginger and that is her standing on the ground. She has a “ginger” color around her neck. I was named after the nice guy named “Ed” that gave us a ride in his truck to come here to Shirley. We love it here!
Cocoa
My chocolate brown coloring awarded me the name of “Cocoa” and my twin sister is named “Marshmallow.” I just love the big open pasture here at Shirley where we can all run and play. Can’t you just smell the fresh open air? Life is really good for us here.
Marshmellow
I’m a little shy. My twin is a beautiful solid color brown named Cocoa. I’m all white except for my neck and head. I look like a marshmallow floating atop a cup of cocoa! I love the open space here and the wonderful care we get from the Shirley staff and the Carter family. We are very happy to be here.
Charlie
I’ve been featured in advertisements for Shirley Plantation, saying “Bring Your Kids to Meet My Kids!” My name is Charlie and I am the only male in the herd. I’m so tall, some people think I look like a deer in the pasture! I get a lot of attention and keep the herd together. I’m the leader of the group.
Buttercup
I am the matriarch of the herd. My name is Buttercup because when I came to Shirley the buttercups were in full bloom and covered the pasture. Buttercups are very pretty but they are poisonous to goats. So my name is a reminder to the younger goats here not to eat those things and that like buttercups, I am pretty as a flower!
Dottie
Can you tell why my name is Dottie? You guessed it! It looks like somebody painted dots on my sides! I was an only child and very small when I was born but I am growing so fast now, I am catching up with the other goats! I don’t feel alone anymore now that I have such a wonderful big family!
Sunrise
My golden and white coat along with my sunny personality gave me my name of Sunrise! I am the only pygmy in the herd but everybody here protects me and loves me even though I am very little. I am full grown, loved to be scratched behind my horns, and occasionally will let somebody pick me up.
Sadie
My name is Sadie and I’m the sister to Charlie. I’m almost as tall as Charlie and have beautiful muted colors of brown and white. I’m quiet and reserved but loved to be rubbed on my forehead and on my back. Charlie and I were so happy to be adopted into this herd where we have a large pasture, plenty of food and water, and are very loved.
