Opened in 1974 by Mrs. Charles Hill Carter, Jr., the Gift Shop at Shirley Plantation was originally located in the west room of the Kitchen Building. Relocated to its present location in the Laundry Building during 1979, the Gift Shop served as the admission office as well as a place for visitors to purchase souvenirs and mementos of their visit to Shirley.

Currently known as Lady Cessalye’s Shop after the original owner’s wife, the gift shop features a variety of collectibles, books, educational materials, and custom-made items found only at Shirley Plantation.
