| Animal Life The significant outbuildings, barns and fields reveal much about the importance of animals at Shirley Plantation throughout the 18th & 19th centuries. Horses were used to plow fields, pull carriages, and provide sport with racing and fox hunting. Chickens provided eggs while goats, sheep and cattle provided milk, fleece and meat. |
